C S Gant is a long established privately owned business.
William Gant, a highly skilled farrier and blacksmith founded a
small family business at the turn of the 19th century. His son
Charles followed in his father's footsteps shoeing the majority
of Nottingham's working horses.
In the 1950s Charles' son Donald joined the business and by then
times had changed. Therefore new aspects of steelwork were
introduced e.g. welding and fabrication.
In November 1964 the business became a limited company and
under Donald's leadership along with his wife June, the company
continued to grow.
In 1962 Mr John Dale joined the company as an apprentice and
worked his way up to become company manager in 1976.
Under his management the company continued to flourish.
Following the untimely death of Donald, June Gant together with
John Dale continued to manage the company successfully and
develop it into the business it is today, achieving EN ISO 9002
Accreditation in 1997.
On the retirement of June Gant in October 1999, Mr John Dale
realised a life time ambition by buying the company along with
his partner, Mr John Stevenson
